Less that a week to go!
So here we are then with just six days to go until we hold our Centenary Contest at Molinnis Park on Saturday. Everyone involved with the contest is hoping and praying for some fine weather as we celebrate one hundred years of our unique event. Monday will see any committee members with a head for heights hanging the bunting that will make the village look colourful on the day, while Tuesday and Wednesday will see the complex task that is the construction of the stage (the conopy is usually added on Friday although last year it was put on a day earlier due to high winds and rain being forecast). Hopefully by the time Friday comes, the only thing left to do is to add the finishing touches to the contest venue like seating for the spectators, marquees to be erected and the power and water supply to be connected.
The ladies that run the legendary Bugle ‘Tea Tent’ also deserve a special mention as many of them will have been busy preparing all week to ensure that there are plenty of buns, cakes and sandwiches to supplement the supply of pasties that will be delivered on the day.
